A family tradgedy strikes while on a call!

So, I’m doing some contract work for The Computer Doctor, and I got a call for a dsl modem problem. I get over there and noticed that the network card was not even showing. Good thing I had brought my laptop and USB key. So I download the drivers from Intel’s site, transfer them over and he’s up and running again.

While I was dong this, the wife goes into the kitchen and all I hear is “Oh My God, the cat ate the fish!” Apparently the family had some pet fish in the kitchen on the counter and the cat took advantage of noone watching.

Boy, it certainly makes for a much more interesting call when you get this kind of entertainment.

I’ll post up more as they occur/I remember them :)

Whois???

Hey All,

Been awhile since my last post. I’ll be working on more regular postings in the near future :)

Well, while doing some research and working with Google, I found a wonderful issue with their website verification tool. Part of the webmaster tools requires you to put a unique file on your site for Google to verify. So I did so. I can even open said file in my browser with no difficulties. So I tell Google to verify, it comes back with an error ‘not found’ message. Geeze. So what does any good geek with conscience do? Contact the owners to tell them of the problem.

Google does NOT make it easy to contact them. In fact, they go far and wide out of their way to give you all the tools to check the help sections. This particular problem is not covered in the help (at least not the obvious help sections they gave me) and since there is no e-mail address for Google, I went to my second recourse, check the whois database to find a contact e-mail address. Much to my surprise, this is what I found:

of the records displayed above. If the records are the same, look them up
with “=xxx” to receive a full display for each record.NOTICE: The expiration date displayed in this record is the date the
registrar’s sponsorship of the domain name registration in the registry is
currently set to expire. This date does not necessarily reflect the expiration

view the registrar’s reported date of expiration for this registration.

Google gets hacked. Well, to be technically correct, whoever holds this DNS record is hacked. I wonder if Google even cares that someone is redirecting people to porn sites. Ah well. I guess they’ll figure it out eventually…..

UPDATE:

Well, the Google guys actually responded and said they would look into it. That was a few weeks ago. Info hasn’t changed yet. .

About us

Having been active around technology for almost 30 years, and seeing many people failing to grasp both it’s importance as well as it’s basic usage, I decided it was high-time to show the world how idiotic they can be. People simply need to have a bigger vision of the tools that have been given to them.
